How are humans altering/impacting estuaries?- Humans are harming estuaries through large scale construction projects by draining, filling, damming or dredging. These activities result in the destruction of estuarine habitats and ecosystems.
Specific Populations that are being harmed by human intervention- Toxic waste that is produced from humans can contribute to fatal fish diseases, along with algal blooms, and low dissolved oxygen. Low dissolved oxygen levels are an issue because breathe dissolved oxygen through their gills, without much dissolved oxygen fish will not be able to sustain themselves, which will cause a major collapse in the ecosystem.
